Making a Difference for Hospital Patients

At Regional Cancer Care Associates (RCCA), we’re dedicated to helping every patient who is directly under our care. We’re known for delivering high quality care, close to home.

At the same time, we believe it’s important to share our extensive knowledge and expertise with the wider community of patients and physicians. That’s why we spend time consulting with many of the doctors at the hospitals we’re connected to. We’re brought in because of our experience and specialized knowledge, and we assist with many difficult cancer cases.

Consulting on blood disorders

Cancer is a main focus for everyone at RCCA—however, many of our physicians are also board-certified blood disease specialists (also known as “hematologists”). This blood disease specialty is extremely important in hospitals because hospital patients can develop a variety of blood-related disorders. These conditions include:

  • Blood clotting disorders
  • Anemia
  • Low white blood counts
  • Reduced platelet counts

These conditions in turn can cause symptoms ranging from excessive bleeding to potentially life-threatening infections. Critically ill hospital patients are especially at risk.

RCCA understands how valuable our knowledge of blood diseases can be for these patients. In such cases, the disorder needs to be quickly identified, accurately diagnosed and treated with the most effective therapies modern medicine has to offer.

The doctors of RCCA help our physician and hospital partners deliver the highest level of care when patients have challenging blood disorders. Many of our specialists are trained in both hematology and cancer care. When we consult with our fellow physicians and hospital teams, we often play an essential role. The result is healthier patients and improved overall outcomes.

Helping coordinate patient care

Some hospital patients need many types of treatment, including surgery, radiation, chemotherapy and treatment for blood disorders. RCCA also helps coordinate care for many of these patients. We make sure these patients get exactly the treatment they need, exactly when they need it. RCCA doctors and our staff members know that helping coordinate care is vital to both hospital inpatients and outpatients.
